Caramelized ribs have become a popular dish  due to their delicious sweet taste. Oven or grilled ribs are a dish that is usually salty, but with the sweetness of different ingredients they become special to the palate.

You can also prepare them stewed, in the oven or grilled; second you prefer. We recommend the last one, as it will give the ribs a delicious smoky flavor that will delight everyone.

Ribs are a cut that is made, in the case of pork, and that is totally different from other cuts. They contain vitamins, calories, proteins, few grains of fat, but the best thing is that they don’t have carbohydrates.

Fruits such as apple, pear, pineapple, banana and lemon (to give it a sour touch) are used to prepare this type of recipe. Learn how to make the process “caramelized” so you can use it in other dishes.

1. Caramelized ribs with pineapple

Ingredients

  • 1 cup and a half of water.
  • 3 tablespoons of salt (15 g).
  • 2 servings of pork ribs (2 kg).
  • 1 cup of pineapple pieces (225 g).
  • 5 tablespoons of soy sauce (75 ml).
  • 2 tablespoons of powdered ginger (10 g).
  • 1 red onion, chopped into small pieces (100 g).
  • 4 tablespoons of powdered brown sugar (60 g).

Preparation

  • First, wash the rib pieces very well, separate them and place them in a pan.
  • Then add the red onion, powdered ginger and 3 tablespoons of salt.
  • Then, once you have seasoned the ribs, add the cup and a half of water to the pan and place them in the oven over low heat.
  • Once the water starts to boil, add the spoons to the pan. You can use a little more powdered brown sugar  if you want them to be sweeter.
  • Then, remove excess water to facilitate the caramelization of your recipe and add the pineapple pieces and the tablespoons of soy sauce.
  • Finally,  stir constantly over low heat, until the ribs are caramelized and the mixture is thicker. Serve with an accompaniment of your choice and that’s it.

2. Caramelized ribs with banana

If you are looking for a natural caramelized touch, we recommend the banana. This fruit, together with other ingredients, are ideal for giving the sweet and sour taste that enchants so much. If you cook on the grill, it’s much better.

Ingredients

  • The juice of 1 lemon (5 ml).
  • 3 pork ribs (3 g).
  • 4 tablespoons of salt (20 g).
  • 1 head of crushed garlic (15 g).
  • 3 spoons of oregano (15 g).
  • 5 tablespoons of olive oil (75 ml).
  • 3 tablespoons of banana jam (45 ml).

Preparation

  • The first thing you should do in this recipe is  make sure the ribs are free of fat and skin.
  • Then, marinate them with a mixture of crushed garlic, oregano and olive oil.
  • Then season the ribs with salt.
  • Grill over medium heat, placing the ribs bone side down.
  • When it starts to brown, turn it so the other side cooks.
  • Then remove them from the grill and let them rest for 5 minutes.
  • Afterwards,  mix the banana jelly with the lemon juice  and spread this mixture on both sides of all the ribs.
  • Bring it back to the grill so that the ribs caramelize. This takes approximately 5 minutes longer.
  • Finally,  cut the ribs into strips; this gives it the famous name of “ribs”. Serve and go!

3. Baby caramelized ribs

Although you may not believe it, honey together with  other ingredients gives the ribs a unique and special flavor. Learn to caramelize effortlessly, as follows:

Ingredients

  • 1 pork rib (1 kg).
  • 1 tablespoon of salt (15 g).
  • 6 tablespoons of honey (90 ml).
  • 1 teaspoon of pepper (5 g).
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon (3 g).
  • 1/2 tablespoon of garlic powder (7 g).
  • 3 tablespoons of powdered brown sugar (45 g).

Preparation

  • First,  separate or detach the ribs from the bone.
  • In another pan, prepare a mixture with brown sugar powder, salt, garlic, pepper and cinnamon.
  • Afterwards, place the ribs on a baking sheet and spread the mixture previously made under them.
  • Also, cover them well with aluminum foil.
  • On the other hand, put the ribs in the oven at a temperature of around 180 ºC for 20 or 30 minutes.
  • Also, in another separate bowl, mix the honey with the soy sauce, to obtain our caramelized sauce.
  • Take the ribs out of the oven when the corresponding time has elapsed. Spread the honey and soy sauces over the ribs.
  • Soon after, take them to the oven again without the aluminum foil, at a temperature of 225 ºC for 10 minutes.
  • Afterwards, remove the ribs and spread more honey and soy sauce on the other side, bake again and leave them for another 10 minutes.
  • Finally, take the ribs out of the oven, let them rest for 5 minutes and serve.
